Melanie Slade – The Latest “Footballer’s Wife”

Melanie Slade is the girlfriend of Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott and the latest addition to the real “Footballer’s Wives” stable. She first met the England squad member outside the shop where she worked at West Quay shopping mall in Southampton. Melanie was outside with a basket in her hand when Walcott’s friend announced “the basket is for phone numbers”.

Cheeky Theo scribbled his mobile number on a scrap of paper and tossed it into Mels basket and his friend did the same. The romance had begun and Melanie Slade and Theo Walcott have been an item ever since.

Walcott said they are not a typical “footballer couple” and would not let the media attention affect them. He said: “We haven’t been to any footballer parties at all. We’re not people who like to party.”

Walcott has told the media he and Melanie made a bet as to who could pass their driving test first and Melanie won, as Theo failed his first test and Melanie passed hers at the first time of asking.

There were no hard feelings on losing the bet and Theo spent £20,000 on a white VW Beetle for Melanie, affectionately known by as the ‘Love Bug’. Theo even registered the private number plate T4M symbolising ‘Theo for Melanie’ for his girlfriend.

Melanie shot into the media limelight when 17-year-old boyfriend Theo became a shock selection for England’s 2006 FIFA World Cup squad even though he had not featured in club Arsenal’s Premiership campaign and manager Sven Goran-Eriksson hadn’t seen him play SBOBET Asia.

Melanie has since become a firm tabloid favourite and there was little surprise when in May, a leading UK tabloid newspaper reportedly offered her £160,000 for a topless photo shoot. She accepted the offer and appeared topless in the newspaper although she did preserve her modesty by covering up with her hands.

She is using her new found status to support the 2006 Race for Life event organised by Cancer Research UK but has also asked for privacy whilst she revises for her exams.

Melanie is also the daughter of a now locally famous man. Her father, John Slade, recently became the 784th mayor of Southampton at a ceremony at the city’s Guild Hall. However, she missed the ceremony as she had jetted off to Portugal to join Theo’s World Cup preparations.

Melanie has stated she will not make any further decisions about the various media offers she has received until after the World Cup, although she could be a permanent fixture in print and on screen over the next 12 months.

The Effects of Foreign Footballers on the English Game

To as far back as the 50’s and earlier there have been foreign footballers playing out their careers in the top leagues. Although the crutch of the talent in the higher leagues was dominated by Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English players through into the 70’s there was beginning to be a noticeable amount of foreign talent, with possibly one or two gracing each team.

Into the 80’s this trend would continue but by this point homegrown black players were also making their mark on the English game with the likes of John Barnes and Viv Anderson being elevated to both stars for club and country. This amidst still a fair degree of racism around the country.

Agen Judi Into the early 90’s black players were becoming commonplace, with the likes of Ian Wright forming important parts of the contemporary lineups. Off the back of the Hillsborough disaster clubs were moving into safer allseater stadiums, incentives and punishments were being implemented to rid the game of its racism and violence. With this burgeoning family orientated and more civilized aura surrounding the game it was becoming fashionable to the middle classes to as well as the lower classes. Riding this popularity and with the advent of Sky Sports satellite TV coverage and all the money this would bring, the game was entering new heady heights. Off the back of this clubs were experiencing wealth previously unheard of. In a matter of a few years the transfer record would go from £1 million to £5.5 million in 1994 with transfers of £7 million and in excess commonplace within a very short amount of time.

With this rise in transfer fees clubs too could offer very attractive contracts to prospective players and as a result of this we were beginning to see the first ever mass influx of foreign players into the English game. Players such as Dennis Bergkamp who previously would have never considered playing in England as apposed to the more glamorous foreign leagues in Spain and Italy were arriving on our shores in their droves.

Soon foreign players were making up the crutch of most teams. And although the standard of the game had noticeably improved many were denouncing the influx as detrimental to homegrown talent. This attitude has continued right up to this day, but with our national team as successful as ever it is in my opinion a stance devoid of substance. Although the rapid financial growth of the 90’s has now found its level somewhat, I can still see foreign players making up an important part of our game for the foreseeable future at least. Giving rise, in its wake to the making of our league as possibly the best or second best in the world.

Football Gambling Line Spreads

When gambling on football you must look at the football gambling line statistics . Football game lines are set by casinos to try and split the action down the middle. Football point spreads are not used to predict how much a given team will win by. Casinos just care about splitting the action. For instance, if Carolina is favored by 3 over Atlanta. The casino just wants to even the action out. They may move the spread to 3.5 or 2.5 to get more bettors, and to make the action more even. If all the bets came in for Carolina and Carolina won, the casino would take a huge loss. Casinos are not into gambling they are into making money. Splitting the action down the middle ensures the casino will make money.

Football games normally end with one team winning by the following amounts Daftar Sbobet Online : 1,3,4,6,7,10,11,13,14,17,20,21,23,24,27,28,and 31. I call these key points. When you see .5 added to a spread be careful because it could be a trap or a great deal. .5 can make all the difference in the world. If you get a spread of 5.5 then the .5 does not make a huge difference because most games don’t end with a team winning by 5. But a spread of 3.5 or 2.5 can make or break you. You must learn to read the gambling line statistics to determine why the casino placed the points where they did and why they moved a certain line.

Lastly when betting on football remember this, you are betting against the general public not the odds makers. The odds makers know everything the general public knows and they are trying to split the action based on the public’s knowledge. So the real question is “is the public wrong for this game?” For example the Colts lost Peyton Manning, now everyone is saying the Colts are going to get blown out. That is public perception, are they right or wrong? A couple of tips, normally when ESPN or any other sports guy is hyping a team, don’t listen. These guys just hype the team of the week. Also in the NFL the underdog wins a lot more than college.
